What are the classes about?

How are classes taught?

In 2024, we look forward to offering some of the classes in-person, however, the summer school is primarily virtual at this time. Each class will be taught online via Zoom (even those taught in-person). You will receive a confirmation email with the link(s) to your classes.

What If I can’t attend the class live?

That’s perfectly fine. Each registrant will receive a copy of the recording following the class instruction. If the time doesn’t work for you, you can watch any time you’re available to do so. We’ve had several people order bundles and they received their videos and watched at later times.

How much are the classes?

Classes are pay-what-you-can (suggested donation is $25 each, per person). You can bundle and save with options that include three classes ($68/pp) or all six classes($125pp).

How do I register for classes?

Go to the registration page and select which option you prefer. If you are only taking one or two classes, you can register for them individually. If you’re selecting a package, select the appropriate bundle and in the notes, indicate which classes you wish to take. This is very important to ensure that you’re registered with the right classes and get the right access link to participate. If you do not leave a note and we are unable to reach you by email, we will assign classes with our discretion.

Do I have to be of the African Diaspora to register and participate?

No. People of all races, cultures, ethnicities, religions, and nationalities are welcome to join Sankofa Summer School.

What is the refund policy?

You can request a refund up to seven days prior to when your class is scheduled to take place. Simply forward your registration receipt email to info@sankofasummerschool.com to request. There are no refunds within seven days of the class. If you purchased a bundle, you can request a refund up to seven days prior to the day the first class is scheduled to take place. After the first class takes place, you can no longer request a refund and your payments for the remaining classes will be considered non-refundable.

Can I change classes after I register?

You can request a class change up to seven days prior to when your class is scheduled to take place. Simply forward your registration receipt email to info@sankofasummerschool.com to request a change. If you have a bundle and want to change one or more of the classes, please make the request at least seven days prior to the first class. We cannot guarantee registration changes within seven days of each class.

Can I enter the class late?

Yes, but please be sure to mute your mic and avoid being disruptive. You will not be refunded for your tardiness.

I’m having registration issues, what do I do?

If you’re having technical issues with the ticketing site, contact support@sankofasummerschool.com and clearly describe, in detail, what happened when you encountered a problem. We will do our best to guide you through the process.
